Eventually, I want to learn how to apply makeup and start signing emails as Lucy, not Lucas. I still feel uncomfortable in my own skin, and I am still preoccupied with my weight. But now I’m starting to build the courage I need to present myself on my own terms. I can’t completely divorce my body image issues that come from being trans from my concerns about my weight, but I know now that being yourself isn’t contingent on everyone else’s approval.
